My son danced for 13 years and his experience was very positive. He even completed and traveled quite a bit. Ms. Mary is a very experienced and capable teacher for all levels of Irish Dance. Irish dance is not only for competition, it also gives a child a healthy dose of self confidence and discipline. One more plus is the cultural aspect of learning about Ireland’s people, traditions, and a bit of language. Also the whole family is encouraged to gather for the many outings and preferences! Just cannot say enough good things about Ms Mary Sweeney!

Miss Mary is an amazing teacher and has the perfect balance of caring yet strict. She pushes the dancers to ensure they are becoming the best versions of themselves both in and outside of the studio.
Miss Mary's work ethic is unparalleled! She deeply cares about each of her students and puts in countless hours to make sure they are supported, not only for competitions and performances but also in their studio time.

We also love all of the other Sweeney-McAvinchey dance families and have loved being a part of such a welcoming and supportive community.
The dance moms at Sweeney-McAvinchey are amazing and always happy to help with costumes, hair, and shoes, or explaining things like a new step or how a competition or grade exam works.

My children have had so much fun with Irish Dance and have had so many opportunities opened up to them both in and out of the dance world because of Miss Mary's teaching.

Joining her classes was one of the best things we've done and I highly recommend her dance studio!

Ms. Mary taught me and my sister how to dance, but more importantly she taught us life-long lessons. Ms. Mary was practically our second mother and when we moved away, we stopped dancing because every other dance school never lived up to Sweeny McAvinchy. Ms. Mary doesn't just teach Irish dance, she teaches it with passion, adoration, and love. I have never found someone as incredible as Ms. Mary. Every class brought growth, laughter, and long lasting memories. I went to her summer camp at age six and never having danced before, I left begging my mom to bring me back. Every time I move my body in the slightest to music, I thank Ms. Mary for giving me this love and gift for dance. She loves all her students the same and had beautiful friendships with all the parents and students. I will forever love and miss my teacher and my school.

If we could give more stars to this Irish Dance school and the teacher Ms Mary in particular, we would give as many as possible.
Our son started dancing with Mary when he was 4.5 and now, 3 years later, he still loves every single class he attends. It is the only activity that he never wants to miss.
Mary is a wonderful unique teacher who found great connection to our boy when he was little and shy. Today, thanks to Mary's devotion, time invested and passion, he has grown into a good dancer who continues to learn and grow and has built confidence in himself to perform in front of large crowds with ease. We are so so grateful and blessed to have found Ms Mary's Dance School.

Ms, Mary is simply the best all around coach/mentor/instructor you could ever hope to find. She teaches her students about personal responsibility at a young age and has only the best interest in mind for all of her students. Both my daughters danced for her for almost 5 years and we have considered moving back to Germany just to have all of our children dance for her. You will not find a more knowledgeable Irish dance instructor. She is simply the BEST!

My daughter tried the summer camp that Ms. Mary offers and was immediately hooked! This year she has learned so much and Irish dance has quickly become her favorite activity. We even signed up for an extra class. She loves that there is always something new to try and do. Our family has also enjoyed the cute recitals and performance opportunities that Ms. Mary provides and sets up. What makes it different than other types of dance is the fun Irish culture and environment you get to be a part of and learn about. We are so grateful for the love of Irish dance that Ms. Mary instilled in our daughter and look forward to continuing dancing in our new home when we move.

My kids love Miss Mary's dance class! My daughter started a year ago, and has made a lot of progress in that time. She looks forward to dance class every week, and really enjoyed the dance summer camp last year. My son got tired of waiting for his sister's dance class to be over, so he decided to join a few months ago as well. He's really enjoying it, and adores Miss Mary. The pricing is also more than fair, compared to other dance studios we looked at in the area, and makeup classes are offered whenever a class is missed for any reason (holiday, teacher out...), as well as offering lots of extra classes in the lead up to big performances. I definitely recommend!
